Gruppo Campari Contributes Unique Piece of its Art History to Gala Event and Benefit Auction Organized by amfAR

Throughout the event celebrities and VIP guests such as Alan Cumming, Matthew Modine, Mena Suvari, Eva Green, Lapo Elkann, Silvio Muccino, Dean and Dan from Dsquared2 and Maria Grazia Cucinotta, mingled and sipped beverages from Camparis extensive portfolio. The culminating point of the evening was, of course, the benefit auction.
The Spiritello (1921) by Leonetto Cappiello (Livorno, 1875 Cannes 1942), was in the limelight during the auction, starting at a bidding price of 5,000. The auction was conducted by Simon de Pury, along with Alan Cumming, Dean and Dan Caten, founders of the Dsquared2 fashion house, and Yvonne Sciò. A bidding competition ensued between a mysterious business man and Dean and Dan. The latter became proud new owners of the Spiritello, which sold for the price of 27,000 (approx. US$ 34,000).
As one of the most popular expressions of Campari communication and one of the most significant in the history of Italian advertising of the early 1900s, the Spiritello consists of a print lithograph, measuring
